Residence of the Governor of Kansas
Cedar Crest is operated by the Friends of Cedar Crest Association, a nonprofit organization that supports preservation and public awareness of the residence for the First Family of the State of Kansas. The Friends of Cedar Crest Association exists to cooperate with the First Family and the Governor’s Residence Advisory Commission for the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of Cedar Crest, and to encourage public awareness and to contribute to the historic and cultural importance of Cedar Crest. The Friends of Cedar Crest hosts fundraising efforts to preserve the home for future generations of Kansans.
The Governor's Easter Egg Hunt is often held at Cedar Crest. Hosted by the Governor and First Spouse the event is usually free and scheduled on the Saturday before Palm Sunday especially for children ages one to nine.
